There are basically 3 ways of refacing kitchen cabinets:
Refacing with factory melamine finished doors and drawer fronts and applying melamine sheet over frames and boxes, known also as RTF, Rigid Thermo foil finish. RTF finish is very strong, easy to clean, smooth, waterproof, and warp-resistant. this method gives your kitchen a nice modern look. it is considered a semi-custom product. The frames and outside of boxes are finished with the same material or can be finished with color-matching enamel.
Refacing with doors and drawer fronts finished in the factory with conversion varnish. This method also gives your kitchen a nice modern look. It is considered a custom product, it's very recommended, however, you are limited to the factory sheens and color palette. The frames and outside of boxes are finished with matching colors and sheen.
Refacing with doors and drawer fronts, that come unfinished from the factory and are finished on the job with urethane enriched enamel for a beautiful, smooth, washable, and lasting finish. The frame and outside of boxes are finished with matching colors and sheen. This is highly recommended for high-quality oriented customers You are not limited to the color, can pick any color from white to black, and it's considered a highly customized product.

What Sets Cabinet Refacing Pros from the Competition?
We don’t just reface and paint cabinets, we reface and finish them with a traditional application but using the most advanced and the best products for cabinet refinishing. Our ways of refinishing cabinets are different than what our competition offers and our final finish surpasses our competition's offerings.
Kitchen Cabinet Refinishing With Enamel Or Conversion Varnish vs Lacquer Finishes
Please notice the difference in the process of refinishing cabinets and materials used by Cabinet Refacing Pros and our competition.
Almost all our competition uses acetone-based or water-based tinted lacquers to spray color and protection. These products have very thin and can be applied in only a thin layer, otherwise, they get runs and crack, they are easy to scratch, not durable, and start deteriorating in a very short time, especially in areas exposed to moisture, grease, sun, and human sweat. When wood expands and contracts due to air humidity changes, lacquer finishes start cracking when door pieces join or on panels. Also, lacquer-based finishes do not prevent the dark colors of the previous finish, either paint or stain, from bleeding through.
We refinish our cabinets in a traditional way using stain blocking, oil-based or shellac-based, primer, and urethane fortified enamel or conversion varnish. After proper preparation: cleaning, caulking, patching, and sanding, we apply 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of enamel or conversion varnish. Thus, our finishes are smooth, washable, durable, lasting, and surpass our competition finishes.
Lacquer finishes, if damaged, require hiring a professional finisher and redoing the entire door or panel. Enamels and conversion varnish, on the other hand, can be easily applied with a roller or brush, and touch-up when necessary, and it can be done by anybody without noticing the difference between old and new finishes.
Please notice that 1 layer of lacquer has 1 mil thickness, 1 layer of primer, and enamel 1.5 mils, and 1 layer of conversion varnish 2 mils. Thus, our finishes have a minimum of 6 or 7 mills of thickness. Compare this with our competition.
